Carcassonne is a tile laying game where the board expands as you lay tiles. You generate roads, cities and farmland and build temples. You populate these areas with a finite number of 'men'. Although you get them back as the game progresses, a good player can find ways of locking his opponents men on the board, and thus stopping them earn points as the game goes on. The original game has been updated with the addition of several expansion sets, 5-6 player extension sets and a non-collectable card game. The new version features new art, a solid ocean hex border and some clarifications. The old sets and expansions can be played with this new base set and an 'adapter kit' can be bought (but you don't have to have it) to make things easier if you do.
